Aon Warranty Group (AWG) provides extended warranty services for electronics, appliances, homes, and automobiles in both domestic and international markets.

As a Senior Software Engineer, I was involved in the architecture, development, deployment, and maintenance of AWG's internet applications. My duties include:

• Using WebSphere Studio Application Developer (WSAD) to develop J2EE applications. This includes all server-side and persistence items, servlets, and utility classes.
• Working with the Database Administrator and using DB2 UDB to model and deploy the data for WLS.
• Developing user interfaces using HTML, JSP, XML, XUL, and Thinlets.
• Implementing WebSphere LDAP security to control access to JSPs and Servlets.
• Performing unit and integration testing using tools such as JUnit, Cactus, and Agitator.
• Sitting on the architecture committee to help steer the future direction of AWG's application architecture
• Evaluating and implementing frameworks such as Spring, Hibernate, Tapestry, and Struts, .

Intercap Systems.

Intercap Systems (now defunct) provided Internet-enabled, back-office services for traditional clearing firms in the financial industry. Intercap's principle application aided the clearing of financial and fixed income derivatives.

As a Software Engineer, my duties ranged from business analysis to the development and the deployment of the system. These duties included:

• Analyzing requirements to design system requirements using Rational tools and UML.
• Creating Servlets to perform back-end validation on users' entries, cast those entries into the objects required by the EJBs on the backend, and then persisting the entered data. I generally used Oracle and SQL to verify that the Servlets were working properly.
• Creating Servlets to translate the user's requests for information into SQL and OQL queries, correctly group and summarize retrieved data, and to support the execution of backend processes from the UI.
• Creating and deploying EJBs on the Voyager application server to support the requirements of data input and the management of transactions.
• Using TOPLINK to map the properties of the Java classes to the fields in Oracle.
• Coding Java Server Pages using a combination of HTML for basic layout, Javascript for front-end validation, and scriptlets for dynamic content.

Software Interfaces produced multiplatform tools for querying, reporting, and converting data from numerous different RDBMSs. Platinum acquired Software Interfaces in 1995 and has since merged with Computer Associates.

As a Technical Writer, I wrote user guides and reference manuals and developed online help systems for both Unix and MS Windows systems. This involved an in-depth knowledge of SQL and various relational databases and operating systems.

I have been using computers for over 25 years, wrote my first program professionally in 1985, and joined the software profession full-time in 1994. I am familiar with accounting, financial, and insurance principles and have strong critical thinking, logic, mathematics, and communications skills. I am interested in a full-time senior developer/architect role designing and developing cutting edge J2EE/Service Oriented applications.

I am not interested in systems administrator positions or contract work.
